We could incorporate some space for a dog park in a remote near one of our public parks. This idea is ever growing in the cities around us and I believe would be hugely welcomed by our citizens.

Community gardens benefit the community as they help:
build welcoming, safer communities
improve the look of neighbourhoods
reduce pollution by sequestering carbon and reducing the shipping of food over long distances
support pollinator habitats that are necessary for community well-being
reduce food insecurity
connect people to nature
educate people on where food comes from and provide opportunity for people, especially in urban spaces, to engage with their food system
provide an inclusive meeting area where people of all ages and cultural backgrounds can come together to share experiences and knowledge
The city could offer individual or shared plots of land for rent and allow groups or individuals to participate in the upkeep of the garden.

I think we should encourage the businesses in downtown to participate in the spirit of Christmas by asking if they would be willing to decorate their storefronts for Christmas. This would allow for the community to walk or drive around viewing these decorations and allow them to get to know the businesses and services that we have. This would also support the Christmas lights that occur every year and coincide with the theme. We could assign an individual theme for each business that agrees to participate and call it our Winter Wonderland or Downtown Candy Cane Lane? Stores would be assigned themes such as: Santa's Workshop, Santa's Cookie Stop, or even Santa's Living Room.

Our city is beautiful this time of year, and I think that utilizing downtown and Patriots Park for a "Fall Festival" themed event would be great. Just like with BeachBlast, we can let vendors come in and sell to local community members and offer food and events to participate in like pumpkin painting or decorating for the kids. We could use a carnival theme for games and decor. Many cities around the area host events very similar to this and I think that it would be very successful.

I think the city should review the idea of updating our local parks to include new equipment, updated fields and offer new activities. Currently there are no parks in the area that offer the community access to things such as space for outdoor volleyball courts or outdoor exercise equipment. Most parks also need updated public restrooms. Not everyone can afford a membership to the local YMCA, and some just don't want to join because of the lack of free time or limited accommodations. Updating the public parks and the activities that they offer will assist in getting kids and adults more active. Overall this will improve not only the appearance of the city, but will also increase the moral and support of the community.

I think that Patriots Park and it's amphitheater should be utilized more by offering "Movie in the Park" nights. We could allow people free entry and request that they bring blankets to lay out on to view family friendly movies (maybe themed oriented based on time of year?). We could have a few food vendors come out and offer refreshments and popcorn to the families. The movies could be projected onto a large partition or sheet on stage.
