Planning for the Future
The City’s Planning Department not only plans for today but for tomorrow as well. This is done through the creation of various plans that will guide development into the future.
Comprehensive Plan
The City of Kings Mountain’s Comprehensive Plan is a long-range vision for future development in the City. It is a tool for guiding growth, redevelopment, and overall improvement for the City. The plan serves as the official policy and details our vision, goals, and strategies to manage growth, define and reinforce the city’s identity and character, and to provide high quality service to all residents.
You can find the Comprehensive Plan 2040 here.
Future Land Use Map
Along with the Comprehensive Plan, the City’s Future Land Use map is a guide for City Council, the Planning Board, and staff to use when making rezoning decisions. The Land Use Map shows where future areas of residential, commercial, and industrial development would be best suited and this informs staff, the Planning Board, and Council when they are faced with deciding whether or not to allow any given rezoning request.
You can find the Land Use Map on the City’s GIS website here.
